Figures

Katerina's work is a study of the unseen in our daily lives. Be it individuals, photos or incidents, these subjects are often unobscured, yet frequently overlooked. In the age of the spectacle, these topics have lost their glamour and with it, have lost our attention.

Katerina’s work gives an arena to subjects that no longer receive a thoughtful stage. She coaxes the viewer into examining these over-accessible subjects that have become disposable in some way. The depictions are representational, but veiled in abstraction. They may be a euphemistic take on these topics, revealing only as much as the viewer wants to see. They leave the viewer to wonder at the things they may be missing.
